5 Big Nigerian Celebs Who Switched From Christianity To Islam

The Nigerian entertainment industry has seen several high-profile celebrities embrace Islam, often adopting Muslim names following their conversion. According to Ireporter Online, while some turned to Islam through marriage, others cited personal spiritual journeys and a search for purpose as motivating factors.

Among the notable figures is Grammy Award-winning musician Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, who in 2025 revealed in an interview with American streamer Playboymax that he converted from Christianity to Islam in his pursuit of spiritual truth. The singer, raised in a Christian environment, stated that joining Islam has sparked more questions than answers about his faith.

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe also embraced Islam in 2023, adopting the name Hajia Minnah. She attributed her conversion to her marriage to film producer Kazim Adeoti, who is a Muslim.
