57 Senior NAF Officers Promoted As Military Leadership Strengthens

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has promoted 57 senior officers to higher ranks, signaling a strategic effort to strengthen its leadership and operational capabilities. According to an official statement by the NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, 27 officers were elevated to the rank of Air Vice Marshal, while 30 were promoted to Air Commodore.

Those appointed Air Vice Marshal include Air Commodores SA Eyoma, GI Jibia, AA Adebomehin, ES Odekina, CE Akubue, SO Eyekosi, AO Akinbuwa, LI Kamat, AG Akinyimika, AO Bamidele, AK Famuyiwa, PJ Edem, SA Madaki, OT Salami, FO Ankeli, MJ Chidama, JJ Ijudigal, M Umar, IJ Ogbodo, U Ariahu, AL Dakwat, CE Akpa, EC Ukpong, IS Subi, IM Yusha’u, SS Lazarus, and F Ekpah.

Meanwhile, those elevated to the rank of Air Commodore include Group Captains MA Imam, AA Komolafe, HI Eze, DU Edet, MB Umar, GH Okoh, SP Sekegor, PP Okonkwo, PU Okweugo, AU Yahaya, M Yahaya, IR Ubeh, OK Cole, EA Ifebi, RK Olundu, IO Akpasa, AK Mohammed, HA Meshack, SN Nwachi, ZB Shuwa, EJ Alabila, SA Osoniyi, AO Ogunmola, AJ Arumona, BI Jayeoba, CE Akuh, NN Onuoha-Mba, PA Garba, YM Abdullahi, and M Suleiman.

The statement emphasized that the promotion cycle reflects a deliberate effort to bolster the NAF’s high-command leadership, operational expertise, and strategic capacity. Each officer was selected based on merit, professional competence, operational experience, loyalty, and alignment with the Service’s strategic objectives.

The promotion aims to deepen command responsibility, sharpen operational decision-making, and enhance the Air Force’s readiness across multiple theatres of operation. Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, urged the newly promoted officers to demonstrate integrity, humility, and operational excellence, while fostering collaboration with sister services, mentoring junior personnel, and maintaining the highest standards of discipline in all air operations.
