Adeleke Makes Fresh Promises To Osun After Securing Second Term

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by residents following his re-election for a second term, promising to consolidate his administration’s achievements while addressing areas where it has fallen short.

According to Ireporter Online, Adeleke made the commitment on Sunday while speaking with journalists shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formally declared him the winner of the August 15 governorship election.

The governor, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, said the conclusion of the election had brought an end to months of political tension and uncertainty across the state.

Adeleke dedicated his victory to the people of Osun State, commending them for their resilience, determination and commitment to democracy throughout the electoral process.

He said his renewed mandate would provide an opportunity to improve on the performance of his administration by strengthening areas where progress had been recorded and addressing identified shortcomings.

The governor also promised that his second term would be guided by a renewed five-point agenda focused on improving governance and accelerating development across the state.

Adeleke assured residents that he would not take their renewed confidence for granted, pledging to build on his administration’s strengths while correcting its mistakes.

He expressed appreciation to individuals and groups within Nigeria and abroad who supported what he described as the struggle for democracy in Osun State.

The governor also commended the media for its coverage of the election, saying the continued attention given to democratic developments contributed to strengthening the resolve of those advocating for credible democracy.

Looking ahead, Adeleke said his administration would intensify efforts to expand development and broaden the reach of good governance across Osun State.

He also extended an olive branch to his political opponents, calling for cooperation and unity now that the election had been concluded.

Adeleke maintained that there was no victor or vanquished in the election, stressing that he remained the governor of all residents of Osun State regardless of their political affiliations.

The governor further revealed his long-term ambition to transform Osun from a predominantly civil-service-dependent state into an industrial hub and attractive destination for local and foreign investment.
