Popular Afrobeats sensation, Simisola Kosoko, widely known as Simi, has expressed deep admiration for Nigeria’s unique cultural identity, emphasizing that no other nationality can replicate the true Nigerian spirit.

During her appearance on the “90s Baby Show,” Simi described Nigerians as a people with an unmatched energy and authenticity, noting that their essence cannot be imitated. “My favourite thing about Nigeria is just the spirit of Nigerians. You can’t replicate it. Nobody else can be a Nigerian other than a Nigerian,” she remarked.

According to Ireporter Online, the award-winning singer highlighted how Hollywood often misrepresents African accents, typically mimicking those from East or South Africa while neglecting the distinct Nigerian tone.

“Even when they are faking African accents in Hollywood movies, they never actually fake a Nigerian accent,” Simi noted, adding that being Nigerian feels natural and deeply rooted, “it just feels like home.”

The “Joromi” crooner, however, expressed concern over the country’s challenges, wishing for a better Nigeria where citizens would no longer feel the need to migrate in search of opportunities. “That is why I wish the country was better, because I feel like no one would want to leave,” she concluded.
