Allegation from the Pit of Hell!’ – AGF Explodes Over Claim of Secret Meeting with Defecting Governor”

The Federal Government has issued a stern warning that defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not shield any corrupt political figures from accountability or legal action.
Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, made this known in a statement released on Friday by his media aide, Kamarudeen Ogunde. He emphasized that the government’s anti-corruption crusade remains unwavering, regardless of political affiliations or consequences.
Fagbemi’s remarks came in response to an allegation by Paul Ibe, an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who claimed that officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Solicitor General of the Federation had met with a former and a serving governor from the South-South region just 48 hours before their defection to the APC.
Condemning the allegation as baseless and malicious, the AGF said although Ibe didn’t mention names, “discerning Nigerians can guess who he was referring to.”
“The claim is completely false and nothing short of a concoction from the pit of hell—purely a product of Mr. Ibe’s imagination,” Fagbemi declared.
He added, “There is no truth whatsoever in the assertion that the EFCC chairman or the Solicitor General had any meetings with any former or sitting governor as alleged.”
Calling on the public to disregard the claim, Fagbemi described it as a desperate attempt to undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to fighting corruption.
He concluded by affirming: “The Tinubu administration will remain steadfast in upholding the rule of law and prosecuting corruption—regardless of who is involved.”
