Anthony Joshua Open To Moses Itauma Clash After Potential Fury Showdown
According to Ireporter Online, British-Nigerian heavyweight star Anthony Joshua has stated that he would be open to facing rising boxing prospect Moses Itauma, but only after completing his next two scheduled fights.
The former two-time world heavyweight champion made this known during an interview with Fight Hub TV when asked about a potential clash with the unbeaten 21-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the brightest emerging talents in the heavyweight division.
“Let me get these two out of the way, and 100% I would fight Itauma. Yeah, man. Why not, bro? Let’s go. So many great opportunities are still presenting themselves,” Joshua said.
Joshua is expected to first square off against Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 25, before a highly anticipated all-British showdown with Tyson Fury in November. The Fury bout has long been considered one of the most anticipated fights in modern boxing.
If Joshua successfully navigates both encounters, attention could then turn to a potential blockbuster fight with Itauma, possibly in the first half of 2027.
Moses Itauma has continued to rise rapidly in the heavyweight ranks, maintaining an unbeaten 14-0 professional record. Despite his impressive start, questions persist over his endurance in longer bouts, as none of his professional fights have gone beyond 18 minutes.
The British-Nigerian prospect is expected to face his toughest test yet later this summer against Croatian contender Filip Hrgovic. The bout, which promoter Frank Warren is expected to confirm soon, is likely to take place on either August 22 or August 29.
A victory over Hrgovic could further boost Itauma’s standing in the division and place him on the brink of a world title opportunity, with Frank Sanchez and Murat Gassiev also being mentioned as potential future opponents should a championship belt become available.
