APC Cannot Win Bayelsa If They Don’t Field David Lyon- Bayelsains Speak On Why Lyon Is The Man To Beat

The people of Bayelsa State have boasted that the APC would not win the 2023 Bayelsa Gubernatorial election if David Lyon was not on the ballot; according to them, his involvement as the APC gubernatorial candidate is what is required for the APC to win Bayelsa.

Chief David Lyon is a native of Olugbobiri Community in the Olodiama clan of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area in Bayelsa State.

Against all odds, he emerged in 2019 as the APC’s gubernatorial candidate and went on to defeat the PDP, which had the full support of outgoing governor, Henry Seriake Dickson and whose anointed candidate is the current Governor of Bayelsa, Douye Diri.

Considered to be a ray of hope for the younger generation , a quick review of the last Bayelsa gubernatorial elections, which David Lyon easily won by defeating Douye Diri, demonstrates that he is, in fact, the Lion Of Bayelsa Politics. Like 7up, the difference between him and Diri is clear.

Lyon’s ability to consistently associate with the people and meet their needs at their time of greatest urgency helped him achieve this political feat. His generosity is legendary, and his capacity to understand and empathise with the average Bayelsain is his defining quality. Lyon did not achieve this by accident.

Bayelsians who have voiced their displeasure with the current PDP’s lackadaisical approach to governance are confident that this election would be a walkover if David Lyon, who once defeated the PDP and its candidate, Diri, appears on the ballot.

Lyon defeated Douye Diri in six of the eight local government areas in the 2019 Gubernatorial election, and evidence on the ground suggests that he has extended his popularity overwhelmingly to all eight LGAs.
