APC Draws The Line On Wike–Fubara Feud — Yilwatda Explains

According to Ireporter Online, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has stated that the lingering rift between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his former political ally, Nyesom Wike, is beyond the scope of his responsibilities as party leader.

Yilwatda made the clarification on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television, where he addressed the APC’s position on the political tension rocking Rivers State. He explained that the party could not intervene in the dispute because Wike is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Governor Fubara belongs to the APC.

He noted that, as national chairman, his authority does not extend to conflicts involving members of another political party, stressing that the disagreement between the two political figures does not concern the APC at the national level.

The APC chairman further clarified that the ongoing impeachment moves in Rivers State are strictly an internal party issue involving APC lawmakers in the State House of Assembly. He said such matters fall within the party’s internal mechanisms and can be discussed and resolved through established processes.

Yilwatda emphasized the importance of maturity and discretion in resolving party disputes, noting that internal issues should not be unnecessarily exposed to the public. He added that the APC is capable of managing its affairs internally and maintained that Wike does not constitute a problem for the ruling party.
