APC Hits Saraki Over Alleged Double Game, Warns Against Secret Support For Tinubu
According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has accused former Senate President Bukola Saraki of duplicity in his political engagements. In a statement released on Friday by the party’s spokesperson, Abdulwaheed Babatunde, the APC alleged that Saraki portrays himself as an opposition leader in the state while allegedly seeking personal gains from the ruling party in Abuja.
The party called on Saraki to address claims that he publicly aligns with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at home, but privately supports President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid. Babatunde said these allegations, if true, raise serious questions about Saraki’s political integrity.
Describing the conduct as hypocritical and disloyal, Babatunde said it constitutes a betrayal of the supporters who have remained loyal to Saraki over the years. He emphasized that Saraki should clarify the situation rather than allow attacks on those who initially raised the issue.
“Since Prof. Sulaiman Abubakar made the claims during a radio programme, we have witnessed a coordinated attempt to tarnish his reputation by some hired operatives. That is very low and unwise. What is expected of the former Senate President is a clear response because the allegation is serious,” Babatunde said.
The APC spokesperson further stated that such claims align with Saraki’s political history, citing his 2015 Senate presidency as an example of alleged betrayal and disrespect toward party leadership, including Tinubu. Babatunde warned officials engaging with Saraki in Abuja to exercise caution.
“Anyone wishing to affiliate with this ruling team should do so openly and sincerely. Attempting to benefit from the ruling party while maintaining opposition politics elsewhere is treacherous and unacceptable,” he concluded.
