The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the postponement of its State, Local Government, and Ward Congresses in Adamawa State, a move that has sparked speculation over a possible defection by Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.

In a letter dated February 17, 2026, jointly signed by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the party formally informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the postponement. The correspondence stated, “We write to inform you of the postponement of the State, Local Government and Ward Congresses for Adamawa State. A new date will be communicated to you in due course.” INEC confirmed receipt of the notice on the same day.

Although the APC did not provide reasons for the delay, political analysts suggest the move may be tied to ongoing realignments within Adamawa State politics. The letter has circulated widely on social media, further fueling public interest and speculation.
