APC Youths Slam Dogara: ‘Stop Chasing Political Spotlight

According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Parliament has dismissed speculations that President Bola Tinubu may replace Vice President Kashim Shettima with a Northern Christian running mate in the 2027 elections.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Bauchi, APC Youth Parliament Chairman Kabiru Garba Kobi accused former House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara of seeking political relevance through divisive statements ahead of the next general elections.

The group was responding to Dogara’s interview on a television programme where he called for justice and inclusiveness in Nigeria’s power-sharing arrangements. Kobi described Dogara as a “desperate politician” who worked against Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election and is now attempting to regain relevance.

“All statements by Dogara are not motivated by religious concerns or justice; they are driven by personal ambition. If progress is truly the goal, what is wrong with the achievements of the Tinubu/Shettima administration?” Kobi questioned.

He further warned that any attempt to replace Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections could backfire politically, potentially eroding the President’s support in the North-East. Kobi praised Shettima as an effective and unifying Vice President whose leadership continues to strengthen ties between the region and the rest of Nigeria.

“Shettima delivered votes for Tinubu in 2023 even before assuming office, and he remains a pivotal figure for ensuring success in 2027. Those calling for his replacement are merely attempting to sow discord within the APC,” Kobi added.

Highlighting Shettima’s humility, patriotism, and vision, Kobi said his leadership remains an inspiration to young Nigerians nationwide, while criticizing critics who neither contributed to the party’s 2023 victory nor supported Tinubu at the time.
