According to Ireporter Online, youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have urged Governor Seyi Makinde to start preparing his handover note, signaling readiness for a new leadership ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The call was made during a press briefing at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, where the State APC Youth Leader, Comrade John Aremu, stated that young party members were actively mobilizing to reclaim power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Aremu accused the current administration of impeding Oyo State’s progress through inefficiency and poor governance. He said, “The present government has held Oyo State in bondage, and the people are tired. APC youths are ready to deliver the political change the state urgently needs.”

He warned that the PDP should prepare for its exit, noting that the APC youth wing is poised to take the reins of leadership. Aremu stressed that the next phase of development in Oyo State would be youth-driven, with emerging leaders offering a more progressive trajectory.

On party dynamics, Aremu described the reconciliation between former governorship candidate Senator Teslim Folarin and the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, as a key step in strengthening the party’s unity. He added that renewed cooperation among top APC stakeholders positions the party for a stronger, cohesive front ahead of the 2027 election cycle.

Aremu also highlighted the upcoming APC Youth Summit as a critical platform for repositioning the youth wing. The summit is expected to focus on restructuring party units, mobilizing grassroots support, and aligning young members behind a shared vision.

He revealed that the party will unveil a comprehensive youth-driven roadmap incorporating digital advocacy, political mobilization, community engagement initiatives, and issue-based campaigns aimed at reclaiming Oyo State. “The future of Oyo must be planned today,” Aremu stated, reaffirming the youth wing’s determination to lead the state toward transformative development.
