Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has voiced strong optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will continue to attract a wave of defections from opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

several top figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the APC — a major political realignment as the next elections draw near.

Commenting on the trend, Uzodinma said, “You can clearly see the tide is turning in our favor, and the influx of new members is just beginning. Our party in Delta is expanding rapidly, and Delta is fast becoming a one-party state.”

As Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Uzodinma stressed the need to properly manage the influx of new members to maintain party unity and stability.

“It’s crucial we meet to strategically manage this tremendous success. Through our party’s internal mechanisms, we will welcome and integrate the new members and leaders, working together as a family to strengthen the party and support the Delta State government for the benefit of our people,” he explained.

Uzodinma also hailed the defections as a powerful endorsement of the APC’s growing popularity across the nation, adding, “We are delighted with this development. It’s a strong testimony that the APC-led government is gaining admiration from many Nigerians, if not the majority.”
