Atiku Vows To Clamp Down On Corruption, Hints At 2027 Presidential Run

Former Vice President and leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, Atiku Abubakar, has signaled his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking to a gathering in Hausa, Atiku pledged to wage a relentless war against corruption if elected, vowing that anyone found guilty of stealing or corrupt practices would face stern punishment.

In a video shared on X, Atiku declared: “I swear to God, if elected, whoever steals or engages in any corruption-related activities, we will declare war against them and they must be punished.”

The former presidential candidate, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, is widely believed to have shifted his political base to the ADC through a new coalition, although he has not officially announced his defection.

Recently, the coalition unveiled its interim leadership with David Mark named as Interim National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as Interim National Secretary, among other appointments.
