Baba Ahmed’s Propaganda Crashes as Tinubu’s National Machinery Marches Towards 2027(Video)
In a dramatic turn of events following his resignation as Special Adviser to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Baba Ahmed has launched a series of relentless attacks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Central to his claims is the assertion that “no one can become President without the North” and that President Tinubu is allegedly “shortchanging” Northern Nigeria — an allegation many political observers have described as divisive and historically inaccurate.
However, a closer look at Nigeria’s democratic history reveals that no region — North or South — can single-handedly produce a president without national support.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari, despite commanding millions of votes from the North, failed in his 2003, 2007, and 2011 presidential bids because he lacked sufficient Southern support.
It was only in 2015, after forming a strategic alliance with Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Southwest political bloc, that Buhari secured a national spread and ultimately clinched the presidency.
Analysts argue that Baba Ahmed’s statements reflect more of personal frustration than reality.
It is worth recalling that Baba Ahmed previously served as Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during a period marred by serious allegations of election manipulation — allegations so grave that late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua openly admitted that the elections which brought him to power were deeply flawed.
As Nigeria looks ahead to 2027, the political landscape continues to tilt in favor of President Tinubu:
-
The Southwest remains firmly behind him.
-
Kano’s political heavyweight, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is gradually aligning his Northern base with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
-
In the South-South, massive infrastructural investments, particularly in Rivers State under Minister Nyesom Wike’s leadership, have strengthened Tinubu’s popularity.
-
Even the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is experiencing renewed development, positioning the APC for a strong showing in 2027.
Observers say Baba Ahmed’s attempts to sow division have fallen flat against the backdrop of Tinubu’s growing national acceptance and pragmatic governance style.
The question no longer seems to be whether Tinubu can secure a second term — but rather, who can stop the unstoppable national momentum already building behind him.
