Back to Class in Style! Tinubu Targets 100 Unity Schools with ₦80 Billion Transformation

The Federal Government has allocated ₦80 billion to upgrade infrastructure in 100 Federal Government Colleges, popularly known as Unity Schools, across the country.

Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, made this known on Friday during an unannounced inspection of the Federal Government College in Kano. She explained that the purpose of her visit was to evaluate the school’s infrastructure, leadership performance, and the welfare of students.

Ahmad noted that the inspection also aimed to assess the quality of the teaching and learning environment, while encouraging effective service delivery within the institution.

She stressed the importance of building stronger collaboration between policymakers and school management to address key challenges and ensure the provision of vital facilities.

“The Federal Government remains committed to delivering quality education and enhancing teacher capacity to meet our educational goals,” she stated, adding that the ministry is currently developing a digital platform for nationwide teacher training.

According to her, the platform will boost teachers’ skills and improve the standard of education in Unity Schools by providing access to training and resources regardless of location.

“This investment will deliver modern infrastructure and create a more conducive learning environment for students,” she said.

The minister also visited the Federal Government Girls’ College in Kazaure as part of broader efforts to improve education quality in Unity Schools. She emphasized that such inspection tours align with the government’s mission to revitalize these institutions and promote effective teaching and learning.
