According to Ireporter Online, the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, has called on Muslims in the state to dedicate the last ten days of Ramadan to prayers against insecurity. The appeal was issued in a statement by his Special Adviser, Dauda Iliya.

Currently in Saudi Arabia for the Lesser Hajj, Governor Zulum revealed that he led fellow Muslim worshippers in a special prayer session for lasting peace in Borno State and across Nigeria. He emphasized that the recent coordinated attacks by Boko Haram insurgents should not weaken the collective resolve to confront the common threat.

“As we approach the last ten days of Ramadan, let us intensify our prayers to Almighty Allah and seek His mercy, blessings, and rewards through all acts of worship,” Zulum said. He further urged Muslims to renew their faith in response to the recent attacks, adding that he would participate in special prayers in the Holy Land to help bring an end to the ongoing conflict.

Governor Zulum also extended a call to the Christian community observing Lent to join in the prayers for peace. He described the insurgents’ renewed attacks as an opportunity to unite against a common enemy, stressing that the current challenges are temporary and victory will ultimately be achieved, insha Allah.
