Bandits Strike Kano: APC Chairman Abducted, Young Man K!lled

Bandits have reportedly attacked a community in Kano State, killing at least one resident and abducting the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rogo Local Government Area, Audu Fanka Salisu Yahaya.

According to reports, the attackers stormed the community at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and opened sporadic fire before making their way to the residence of the local APC chairman.

A community source disclosed that a 25-year-old man was shot dead during the incident, while several other residents reportedly sustained gunshot injuries.

The source said the gunmen forced their way into Yahaya’s residence, broke down the door and took him away.

“They came in, firing sporadically, and went straight to the Chairman’s house. They broke down the door, brought him out and took him away. On their way, they shot a young man, who was not more than 25 years old, and he died instantly,” the source said.

Yahaya is reportedly a close associate of the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, who hails from Rogo Local Government Area.

The latest incident adds to a series of security concerns reported in parts of Kano State, with political figures and residents increasingly becoming targets of attacks by suspected criminal elements.

In a related development, suspected kidnappers recently killed the APC Chairman of Rantan Ward in Bebeji Local Government Area of the state, Garba Buba.

Buba was reportedly shot after gunmen invaded Rantan community on Sunday night and opened fire on residents.

Another resident, identified as Sulaiman Zunduma, was also reportedly killed during the attack.

A resident of the community, Hamza Isah Rantan, was said to have confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Monday, stating that the attackers arrived at about 11 p.m.

According to the account, Buba sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and was taken to a hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

The latest attacks have heightened concerns over the security situation in some communities across Kano State, particularly amid recurring reports of abductions and violent attacks by suspected bandits and kidnappers.
