Baumgartner Apologizes To Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, Seeks Forgiveness
Austrian football star Christoph Baumgartner has issued a formal apology to Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard for his involvement in the Norwegian midfielder’s recent injury.
During the UEFA Nations League match between Norway and Austria on Monday, September 9, Martin Odegaard had to be forced off after colliding with Christoph Baumgartner.
Even though the Arsenal midfielder couldn’t continue with the game, his country, Norway, went on to win the match with a 2-1 scoreline.
Initially, it was thought that Martin Odegaard suffered a minor injury from the collision but subsequent reports confirmed that he could be sidelined for weeks. Hence, he is most likely to miss Arsenal’s North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
In reaction to the setback, Baumgartner, who plays for German Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig, took to his Instagram page to express his regrets and extend well-wishes to Odegaard.
In his message, Baumgartner emphasized that it was never his intention to cause harm to the Arsenal player and conveyed his hopes for Odegaard’s swift recovery.
He wrote, “Hi guys! I would like to sincerely aapologizeto Martin Odegaard.
“It was never my intention to injure this fantastic player. I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery! Come back stronger @odegaard.”
