Benue Head Of Service Passes Away After Short Illness
According to Ireporter Online, the Benue State Government has confirmed the passing of the state Head of Service, Agbogbo Ode, who died on Saturday following a brief illness.
The announcement was made in an official statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Serumun Deborah, who described the late civil servant as a highly experienced technocrat and a respected figure within the public service system. She noted that his death represents a major setback for the state’s administrative structure.
The statement further highlighted that Ode was widely regarded for his integrity, commitment, and significant contributions toward strengthening efficiency and institutional growth within the Benue State Civil Service. It added that his leadership was marked by professionalism, diligence, and a strong dedication to public service excellence.
The government extended its condolences to his immediate family, colleagues, associates, and the wider civil service community, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
In a related development, the German government has reiterated its support for Nigeria in addressing insecurity and promoting peaceful coexistence, following renewed calls for protection and humanitarian assistance from residents of the Yelwata community in Benue State.
This was disclosed by Germany’s Federal Government Commissioner for Freedom of Religion or Belief, Thomas Rachel, during a press briefing in Abuja after a fact-finding mission to affected communities and internally displaced persons’ camps. He described his visit to Yelwata as emotionally distressing, noting that survivors of the June 2025 attack, which reportedly claimed over 200 lives, continue to live with fear and uncertainty about their future.
