Big Boost For Police As PSC Approves DIG, AIG, ASP Promotions
According to Ireporter Online, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of Assistant Inspector-General of Police Funsho Adegboye to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
The development was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by the Commission’s spokesperson, Torty Kalu. The statement disclosed that the PSC also sanctioned the elevation of Commissioners of Police Danjuma Aboki and Dansabo Idi to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
Kalu noted that the promotions were the outcome of a rigorous and merit-driven assessment process, which included written examinations and oral interviews conducted by the Commission.
The Commission further revealed that the approvals were reached during its third Plenary Meeting, presided over by the PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Salihu Argungu. At the meeting, the Commission ratified the promotion of one Deputy Inspector-General of Police, two Assistant Inspector-Generals of Police, as well as the advancement of over 26,000 officers within the Nigeria Police Force.
In a major boost to career progression within the Force, the PSC also approved the promotion of 26,119 Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II. According to the Commission, the officers were elevated based on their outstanding performance in the recently concluded Departmental Selection Board Examination.
The PSC Chairman congratulated all newly promoted officers and reiterated the Commission’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and merit-based advancement. He urged the officers to view their new ranks as a renewed call to duty, responsibility, and dedicated service to the nation.
Argungu also commended the PSC Standing Committee on Nigeria Police Force Matters, chaired by retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu, for its role in supervising the examination and interview processes that led to the promotions.
