Bode George’s Silence on Tinubu’s Government Raises Eyebrows, Says Atiku’s Media Adviser

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticized Bode George, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, over his recent remarks questioning Atiku’s potential as a successful president. The criticism came through Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, who expressed strong disagreement with George’s comments, as reported by Daily Trust.

Bode George had argued that Atiku would have struggled to maintain stability in Nigeria, particularly after a northern president’s term had just ended. He suggested that the country was in need of a southern leader to ensure balance.

However, Ibe countered by asserting that an Atiku presidency would have ushered in an era of prosperity for Nigeria. He highlighted that Atiku’s administration would have been marked by the appointment of seasoned and capable individuals based on merit. This approach, Ibe claimed, would have sharply contrasted with what he described as the bigotry, nepotism, and mismanagement that allegedly characterize the current administration.

According to Ibe, Atiku’s leadership would have steered Nigeria away from the chaotic and misguided policies that are presently in place, leading the nation toward a more prosperous future.

Ibe also raised questions about Bode George’s current silence regarding the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. George had previously vowed to go into exile if Tinubu assumed power, yet he has remained noticeably quiet since Tinubu’s inauguration. Ibe speculated whether George’s silence is influenced by regional bias, pointing out that George had been vocal against Atiku, who hails from the northern part of Nigeria.

“Bode George’s silence is puzzling,” Ibe remarked. “This is the same person who threatened to leave the country if Tinubu became president, and now, he says nothing about the current administration. One must wonder if his reticence is because Atiku isn’t from his region. It’s important to take his opinions with caution.”

Ibe went further to criticize George’s conduct, calling it a disservice to the military, an institution known for its unity and discipline. He expressed disappointment that a former Commodore, like George, would seemingly support tribalism, thereby undermining the principles that the military holds dear.

“Bode’s behavior is a shame to the armed forces,” Ibe concluded, “and it is unfortunate that someone of his stature would act in a manner that goes against the values of the military.”

This strong response from Atiku’s camp highlights the ongoing tensions within the PDP and the broader Nigerian political landscape as the nation continues to navigate the complexities of leadership and regional dynamics.
