Breaking: APC Elects Yilwatda As Chairman, Basiru Secures Secretary Role – Full List Inside

According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) elected a new set of national executives on Friday night during its National Convention held at Eagle Square, Abuja.

At the helm of the party’s new leadership is Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who emerged as National Chairman. He will be supported by two Deputy National Chairmen: Ali Bukar Dalori representing the North and Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye serving for the South.

Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, former Senate spokesperson, was elected National Secretary, with Professor AbdulKarim Abubakar Kana as his deputy. The convention also saw the election of Murtala Aliyu Kankia as National Legal Adviser, Uguru Mathew Ofoke as National Treasurer, and Ambassador Haruna Ginsau as National Financial Secretary. Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu and Donatus Enyinnah Nwankpa were appointed National Organising Secretary and National Welfare Secretary, respectively, while Felix Morka retained the role of National Publicity Secretary. Senator Abubakar Maikafi assumed the position of National Auditor.

Leadership positions for special constituencies were filled with Dr. Mary A. Idele as National Women Leader, Dayo Isreal as National Youth Leader, and Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole as National Leader for Persons with Disabilities. Several deputy national officers were also appointed, including Hammam Adamu Ali Kumo (Deputy National Financial Secretary), Barrister Emeka Okafor (Deputy National Organising Secretary), Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim (Deputy National Women Leader), and others across key departments.

The convention further produced National Ex-officio members representing the six geopolitical zones: Dr. Opawoye Oluwatoyin Bunmi (North Central), Adamu Jallah (North East), Kano Muhammed Jamu Yusuf (North West), Hon. Ikechukwu Umeh (South East), Mr. Francis Kolokolo (South South), and Hon. Bunmi Orinowo (South West).

The election marks a significant reshuffle in the ruling party’s leadership as it prepares for upcoming political engagements.
