Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dismissed the state’s Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, effective immediately. According to Ireporter Online, the announcement was made public on Tuesday, March 11, 2026, through a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Musa had formally completed his tenure as a civil servant in 2024, but was allowed by the government to continue serving in the role beyond that period to oversee the civil service. The government has now terminated the appointment as part of a broader initiative to restructure the civil service and enhance the efficiency of governmental operations across Kano State.

Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to Musa for his service and dedication during his time in office. Following the dismissal, the governor appointed Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services in the Cabinet Office, as acting Head of Service. She will oversee the office’s functions until a substantive replacement is confirmed.

The outgoing Head of Service has been instructed to formally hand over all responsibilities and official documents to the acting Head of Service, with the handover expected to conclude on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
