According to Ireporter Online, Hon. Usman Garba Zingo, the lawmaker representing Kajuru Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, has returned home safely after being held by armed bandits. He was reportedly released on Sunday evening.

Zingo was abducted on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, while returning from an official engagement in Zamfara State. The incident occurred along a highway near Kaduna metropolis in the North West region, where attackers stopped his vehicle and forced him into their own, leaving his driver behind. The driver subsequently alerted authorities at a nearby police station, but security forces reportedly arrived after the gunmen had fled with the lawmaker.

Despite these reports, the Kaduna State House of Assembly later issued a statement denying the abduction, describing circulating reports as false and malicious. The Assembly asserted that Zingo was safe and performing his official duties, claiming that published photos and details were inaccurate.

A North West-based security analyst, Bakatsine, shared a video online showing well-wishers celebrating the lawmaker’s return. Details surrounding the circumstances of his release, including whether any demands were met, remain undisclosed by security agencies and the lawmaker’s family.
