Following the jailbreak at the Ilesa Medium Correctional Centre in Osun State, security has been heavily reinforced around the facility

When journalists arrived at the Ayeso area—where the correctional centre is located—they witnessed a strong presence of heavily armed personnel from various security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Access to the facility was denied to reporters, but the visible deployment of masked operatives signaled a heightened state of alert.

Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun Command, Joel Oyedokun, stated that security around the centre had been significantly ramped up.

He noted that the State Commandant of the Nigerian Correctional Service had relocated to Ilesa to directly coordinate efforts to recapture the escaped inmates.

“The Army and DSS are collaborating with us to track down and return the fugitives to custody,” Oyedokun told Vanguard.

In a related development, the federal government has announced a ₦5 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of any of the escaped inmates from the facility.

The spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), DCC Abubakar Umar, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
