Chaos In Oyo As 45,000-Litre Petroleum Tanker Overturns On Busy Road

Another petroleum tanker carrying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has reportedly tumbled in Oyo State, sparking fresh safety concerns across the region.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the accident occurred on Monday at Alagbayun area, Odo-Oba in Ogbomoso, when the tanker—bearing registration number BAU 586ZE—veered across the road due to a mechanical fault, with its flammable contents spilling rapidly.

Despite the severity of the incident, ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, no life was lost, and emergency services responded swiftly to the scene.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the development, stating that firemen deployed foam chemical compounds to blanket the area and neutralize the flammability of the petrol.

He explained, “The tanker, loaded with 45,000 litres of PMS, swerved across the road with its content gushing out. The situation was quickly contained to avert disaster.”

The road has since been cleared, and normal vehicular movement resumed.

This latest occurrence adds to the growing list of tanker-related incidents in Oyo, as ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, a similar tanker explosion involving PMS was recorded just days earlier, raising alarm over the frequency of such dangerous events in the state.
