According to Naija News, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted Bello bail on Friday, setting the amount at ₦500 million, with two sureties required to provide the same sum.
In a post on X, Sowore expressed that Bello appeared to be celebrated as a hero in the courtroom after being granted bail. He criticized the situation, labeling Nigeria a “paradise for thieves.”
Sowore stated, “Yahaya Bello is granted bail and becomes an instant hero in the courtroom! Just loot enough to bankrupt the poor while enriching the elites, and you will be hailed by both the poor and the rich. NIGERIA is a paradise for thieves.”
Naija News also reported that Presiding Judge Emeka Nwite instructed Bello’s sureties to sign an affidavit of means and to own properties located in Abuja. The title documents of these properties are to be verified by the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court.
Additionally, Justice Nwite mandated that the former governor must surrender his international passport to the court and provide two recent passport photographs for himself and his sureties. The judge also ruled that Bello be held at the Kuje Correctional Center in Abuja until his bail conditions are fully met.
