Criminal Offences Lead To Deportation Of 42 Nigerians From Ghana

According to Ireporter Online, the government of Ghana has deported 42 Nigerian nationals from the Ashanti Region following convictions for various criminal offenses. The individuals were found guilty of crimes including fraud and prostitution.

Authorities also deported thirteen Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe nationals, and seven citizens of Benin, bringing the total number of deportees to 68.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, announced the development on Facebook on Thursday, December 18, 2025. In his post, Amoakohene praised the Ghana Immigration Service for its professionalism and commitment to enforcing immigration laws while upholding due process and human dignity. He highlighted the agency’s cooperation with the courts and security bodies as key to maintaining public safety and law and order in the region.

In a related diplomatic action, Ghana recently deported three Israeli nationals in response to the “ill-treatment and unjustified deportation” of three Ghanaian travelers by Israeli authorities. Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Sam Okudzeto, confirmed in an official statement shared on that the Israelis were expelled upon arrival in Accra after officials determined that Ghanaian citizens had been unfairly targeted abroad.
