Cross River State Workers To Receive ₦70,000 Minimum Wage, Announces Governor Otu

Earlier, during Workers’ Day in May, Otu had announced a ₦40,000 minimum wage, which faced criticism from residents. In November, he approved the establishment of a Joint Public Service Negotiating and Implementation Committee to facilitate the ₦70,000 national minimum wage. This 16-member committee, led by the state’s Head of Service, Dr. Innocent Eteng, began its work on November 1, ensuring the state’s compliance. Key committee members include Gregory Olayi, state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Monday Ogbodun, state chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
