Cult Crackdown: Delta Police Arrest Suspects, Recover Weapons In Warri And Agbor

According to Ireporter Online, the Delta State Police Command has intensified efforts to combat cultism, armed crime, and the illegal possession of firearms across the state. The Command reported significant breakthroughs following two separate operations in Agbor and Warri.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, stated that on November 8, 2025, credible intelligence revealed that suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity were gathering on Ojeifo Street in Iduwe, Agbor. Acting promptly, the Agbor Divisional Police Officer, CSP Michael Obekpa, deployed patrol teams alongside the Civilian Anti-Cult Unit to the location.

Edafe said the operation led to the arrest of two notorious cultists, Agu Nnamdi of Ohumere Quarters, Agbor, and Promise Banco of Iduwe by Ojeifo Street, Agbor-Obi. During the arrest, operatives recovered a locally fabricated pistol concealed in a black nylon bag. Investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend other suspects who fled the scene.

In a separate operation on November 16, 2025, surveillance officers of ‘B’ Division, Warri, under the supervision of CSP Josephine Ekebuike, pursued a tricyclist and two passengers riding aggressively against traffic along Arubi Street, off DECO Road, Warri. The suspects abandoned the vehicle at First Marine Quarters and fled, leaving behind the tricycle and two locally fabricated double-barrelled guns. Other items recovered included nine mobile phones, four power banks, and a screwdriver. The area remains under intensified stop-and-search operations.

Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, reiterated the Delta Police Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, curbing cult activities, and reducing the circulation of illegal firearms. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement by providing timely and credible information, assuring that all tips would be treated confidentially. Olufemi emphasized that the Command remains determined to ensure a secure environment where law-abiding citizens can carry out their activities without fear.
