Dangote Refinery Reduces Petrol Price To ₦739 Per Litre Across Nigeria

According to Ireporter Online, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially reduced the price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to ₦739 per litre at all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations nationwide.

The refinery described the move as a significant step toward making petrol more affordable and stabilising the downstream petroleum sector in Nigeria. With over 2,000 MRS outlets across the country, the new pump price is expected to be fully implemented, ensuring that consumers nationwide benefit from the reduction.

In a statement released on Sunday, Dangote Refinery commended MRS and other marketers for reflecting the reduced price at the pump and urged other operators to follow suit in support of Nigeria’s economic recovery.

Highlighting the timing of the intervention, the refinery noted that fuel scarcity and price spikes are common during the festive season. “Dangote Refinery has delivered a decisive market intervention—crashing pump prices at a time when Nigerians typically brace for hardship,” the statement said. Backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, the initiative is expected to reshape supply dynamics over the holiday period.

The refinery emphasized that large-scale local refining is reducing Nigeria’s reliance on volatile international markets, conserving foreign exchange, stabilising the naira, and strengthening energy security. It added that steady supply and moderated prices are already easing financial pressure on households, businesses, and transport operators.

However, Dangote Refinery warned against attempts by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity or manipulate fuel supply. Regulatory agencies were urged to remain vigilant and take decisive action against such practices.

Consumers were advised to avoid purchasing petrol at inflated prices when the locally refined fuel is available at ₦739 per litre and to report stations charging above the approved price via 0800 123 5264. The refinery also encouraged other station operators to source its products to extend the benefits of the price reduction nationwide.
