Nigerian skit maker and content creator Carter Efe has opened up about his relationships with some of the country’s biggest music stars, explaining why he does not consider his support for artistes to be permanently tied to one camp.

According to Ireporter Online, Carter Efe made the remarks during an interview with TVC News, where he reflected on his experience with Afrobeats star Wizkid and his current relationship with Davido.

The content creator said his experience with Wizkid taught him not to remain permanently aligned with one person, suggesting that his decision to move between different artistes was influenced by how his previous association played out.

Carter Efe also addressed the continued association of the nickname “Machala” with Wizkid, claiming that the name has increasingly become connected to him among members of the public.

He said people now identify him as “Machala” when they use the name on the streets, adding that he sees himself as the person being referred to rather than Wizkid.

“I am not in any place because the last time I said let me be in one place, the person poured spit on my face and that is Wizkid,” Carter Efe said.

He further claimed that his association with the nickname had grown to the point where people now use it to identify him.

“If you call Machala on the street now, I am the Machala and not Wizkid. I am telling you fact,” he added.

Carter Efe also spoke warmly about his relationship with Davido, describing the singer as a father figure and a major source of support.

“I will never in my life betray Davido. Davido is my daddy, Davido is my helper,” he said.

The skit maker revealed that he maintains direct communication with the Afrobeats star and said Davido recently answered his call.

“I still called him yesterday and he picked my call. Who am I? All the way from Delta State? It’s just grace,” Carter Efe added.

His comments have renewed conversations about his relationships with Nigeria’s leading music stars, particularly his past association with Wizkid and his publicly expressed loyalty to Davido.

Carter Efe has previously attracted significant attention for his involvement in the online rivalry and fan culture surrounding the two Afrobeats superstars, with his comments continuing to generate reactions among their respective fan bases.
