In his recent statement on X.com, Obi highlighted alarming incidents of violence and abduction, including the recent kidnapping of medical students in Benue and the abduction of a state commissioner and his wife in Edo State.
Obi emphasized the urgent need to “declare war on this massive insecurity,” urging the nation to confront these challenges head-on. He expressed frustration with the current state of affairs, noting that despite calls for action, many continue to dismiss or complain without offering solutions. Obi’s call to action aims to galvanize a collective effort to address these critical issues.
Former President Buhari Mourns the Passing of Prof. Attahiru Jega’s Mother
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his condolences following the death of Hauwa Jega, the mother of former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega. Hajiya Jega passed away on Friday night in Abuja after a brief illness at the age of 86.
Her funeral was conducted at the National Mosque in Abuja on Saturday, with burial at Gudu Cemetery, in accordance with Islamic customs. Buhari’s sentiments reflect a shared sense of loss within the Nigerian community as they remember Jega’s contributions and legacy.
FG Warns Oil Marketers Amidst Fuel Scarcity
In response to the ongoing fuel scarcity affecting several states, including Abuja, Niger, Nasarawa, and Kaduna, the Federal Government has issued a stern warning to oil marketers. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has threatened to revoke the licenses of marketers caught stockpiling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and engaging in illegal sales.
The scarcity has led to numerous gas stations closing due to insufficient supply. The government’s action aims to address these shortages and ensure that fuel reaches consumers without obstruction or exploitation.
Federal Ministry of Housing Partners with AHCN on Affordable Housing Initiative
The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has announced a strategic partnership with the Association of Housing Corporations of Nigeria (AHCN) to enhance the provision of affordable housing. This collaboration was formalized during a recent visit by AHCN President Eno Obongha and his delegation to the ministry.
The initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, aimed at improving housing availability and affordability across Nigeria. The partnership signifies a significant step towards addressing the nation’s housing needs and promoting sustainable urban development.
