Defection Sh*cker: Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi Storm Rabiu Kwankwaso’s Home
Prominent figures within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have converged at the residence of Rabiu Kwankwaso in Kano, ahead of his anticipated formal defection to the party. According to Ireporter Online, the high-profile visit underscores growing political realignments as the country gradually moves toward the 2027 general elections.
In a statement shared via his account on Monday, Kwankwaso expressed satisfaction at hosting notable opposition leaders and statesmen from across the country. The former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) also shared photographs capturing moments with key political figures, including Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Aminu Tambuwal, and David Mark.
The development follows Kwankwaso’s recent resignation from the NNPP, which he announced in a personally signed statement on Sunday. He explained that his decision was influenced by evolving political dynamics in the country, which he believes necessitate a new direction.
Kwankwaso expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve as the party’s national leader and its presidential candidate during the 2023 elections, acknowledging that his departure was a difficult decision given his longstanding commitment. However, he noted that the prevailing political climate has made it imperative for him to align with a different platform.
He added that the move is part of a broader strategy to position himself more effectively in contributing to national development and political transformation. The former Kano State governor is expected to formally join the ADC on Monday, March 30, in what observers see as a significant development ahead of the next electoral cycle.
