Delta Police Bust Armed Robbery Syndicate, Arrest Two Suspects

According to law enforcement sources, the Delta State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against violent crime, arresting a suspected armed robber and cultist while recovering dangerous firearms and ammunition in Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that based on actionable intelligence on December 28, 2025, operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, executed a swift raid on a criminal hideout in the Otorwhodo area. During the operation, 24-year-old Moses Tejiri, a local resident, was apprehended, while other gang members reportedly escaped by scaling nearby fences.

A search of the suspect yielded one long Dane gun with ten rounds of live ammunition, two locally fabricated Beretta pistols, and eleven rounds of live cartridges. Preliminary investigations revealed that Tejiri confessed to participating in multiple armed robbery incidents across Ughelli, including Ekredjebor, Olu Avenue, and Winners Road. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang.

In a separate operation on December 29, 2025, the State Intelligence Department arrested one Isu Emmanuel, who allegedly sold prohibited drugs at a hotel near Victoria Junction, Okpanam Road, while claiming to be a licensed pharmacist. Authorities recovered 28 sachets of tramadol, 16 sachets of Swindol, three bottles of codeine-containing Barcadine syrup, and other controlled substances. Emmanuel remains in custody as investigations continue.

The Delta State Police Command reassured residents that intelligence-driven patrols, targeted raids, and proactive crime-prevention strategies remain a priority to prevent criminal activity within the state.
