In a separate incident, panic broke out at Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital in Lagos after a fire erupted in a nursing room on the second floor of the hospital located on Iju Road.

The blaze, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, sent patients and visitors fleeing for safety as flames engulfed part of the three-storey building.

Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the fire in a post on X (formerly Twitter), noting that emergency responders swiftly contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to other sections of the hospital.

She added that normal medical operations have since resumed, and services to the public continue without disruption.
