The exchange rate of the United States dollar against the Nigerian naira has recorded different figures across the parallel market and official market, with the dollar trading at ₦1,430 at the Lagos Parallel Market on Monday, August 10, 2026.

According to Ireporter Online, sources within the Bureau De Change (BDC) market reported that operators were selling the dollar at ₦1,430 and buying it at ₦1,415.

The latest figures reflect the prevailing rates in the parallel foreign exchange market, commonly referred to as the black market or Aboki FX.

Based on the reported rates, individuals looking to sell one US dollar could receive approximately ₦1,415, while those seeking to purchase a dollar would pay around ₦1,430.

However, the Central Bank of Nigeria does not recognise the parallel market as an official foreign exchange channel and has advised individuals seeking to conduct legitimate forex transactions to use authorised financial institutions.

Meanwhile, the official exchange rate recorded by the CBN stood within a range of ₦1,363 to ₦1,367 per dollar, according to the figures available for the period under review.

The difference between the official and parallel-market rates highlights the varying prices available across Nigeria’s foreign exchange channels.

Forex users are advised to note that exchange rates can fluctuate depending on market conditions, location, demand and the individual dealer involved. Consequently, the actual rate offered for buying or selling foreign currency may differ from the figures reported above.
