According to Ireporter Online, the United States dollar continued to trade at higher levels against the Nigerian naira in the parallel foreign exchange market on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, reflecting ongoing activity among Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Lagos.

Market sources indicated that the dollar was sold for ₦1,425 and purchased at ₦1,410 in the black market, also widely referred to as the Aboki FX market. The rates remain subject to fluctuations depending on demand, supply, and location.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) maintained its position that the parallel market is not recognized as an official foreign exchange platform. The apex bank has consistently advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange transactions to use authorized commercial banks and other approved financial institutions.

At the official foreign exchange window, the CBN recorded the highest exchange rate for the dollar at ₦1,364, while the lowest rate stood at ₦1,361.

Foreign exchange dealers also noted that actual buying and selling prices may vary across different markets and locations, as exchange rates are influenced by prevailing market conditions and negotiations between traders and customers.
