Driver Allegedly Collects N200,000 For Truck Repairs, Vanishes
A Nigerian man has narrated how a truck driver allegedly collected N200,000 from his employer under the guise of repairing a broken-down truck before reportedly disappearing with the money.
According to Ireporter Online, the incident was shared on social media by a user identified as @mikeliberation, who recounted the alleged dispute between a truck owner and his driver.
The truck owner was described as a man from the narrator’s village who had purchased the truck for N15 million for use in transporting sand.
The owner reportedly employed a driver and agreed to pay him N75,000 monthly. The driver was said to have worked with him for more than a year before tensions reportedly emerged between the two.
According to the account, the truck owner stopped paying the driver’s salary for two months, allegedly arguing that the driver had not embarked on any trips during the period.
The driver reportedly explained that the lack of trips was caused by heavy rainfall, which had reduced the availability of work, but the owner allegedly maintained his position and refused to pay the outstanding salaries.
Late last month, the driver reportedly travelled to another state with the truck for a job. While on the trip, he allegedly contacted the owner and claimed that the vehicle had broken down on the road.
He reportedly told the owner that a mechanic had inspected the truck and estimated that N200,000 would be required to carry out the necessary repairs.
The owner allegedly transferred the N200,000 to the driver for the repairs.
However, according to the account, the driver later returned from the trip, parked the truck and allegedly disappeared with the money without carrying out the reported repairs.
The incident has since generated reactions online, with the circumstances surrounding the alleged disappearance of the funds drawing attention from social media users
