According to Ireporter Online, the Department of State Services has dismissed reports alleging that it arrested an evangelist for raising an alarm over a supposed herdsmen attack in Nasarawa State. The clarification came after a viral video claimed that Evangelist Ukpo Daniel was detained for alerting the public to an attack on a crusade at Agboda village.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications at the DSS National Headquarters in Abuja, Favour Dozie, described the claim as false, misleading, and an attempt to create public distrust toward the agency.

The statement explained that the evangelist was neither invited nor detained by the Service. It added that his wife, Elizabeth — who first circulated the report — confirmed that she was with him at the Police Headquarters in Lafia when contacted by the DSS.

The Service warned that such misinformation could heighten tensions or interfere with ongoing security operations and urged the public to rely solely on verified communication channels to avoid fueling disinformation that could threaten national stability.
