According to reports, the Edo State House of Assembly Committee on Project Inspection has summoned the contractor responsible for the 1.6km internal roads project in Oza community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, over alleged substandard work.

The Committee also invited representatives of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOPADEC), the agency overseeing the project, to appear before the panel on Monday, December 15, 2025.

Sources revealed that the Committee Chairman, Hon. Addeh Isibor, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the quality of the contractor’s work. The Special Adviser to Governor Monday Okpebholo on Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Phoebe Williams-Bello, reportedly shared similar concerns about the poor execution.

The summons follows the Committee’s site inspection as part of its oversight on government-funded projects. Other sites visited include the Ramat Park Flyover, Adesuwa Junction Flyover, the 32km Benin-Sapele Highway, the completed Army Day Secondary School, internal roads in Ogheghe Community, and the 23km Old Benin-Sapele Highway.
