Edo Lady Alleges Catholic Church Fired Her For Exposing Priests’ S3xual Abuse Of Nuns
A Reverend Sister, identified as Kinse Anastasia, has alleged that she was dismissed by the Catholic Church after she publicly exposed claims of widespread sexual exploitation of nuns by priests. According to Ireporter Online, Sister Kinse, who served under the Auchi Catholic Diocese in Edo State, said she also lost her position at Veritas University in Abuja following her decision to speak out against the alleged misconduct.
She reportedly addressed an open letter to the Congregation of Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters, where she belonged, accusing some priests of treating nuns as “sex slaves.” In the letter, titled “We’re not your wives, stop using us as bedmates,” she wrote: “Religious Sisters are not priests’ wives. We are not bedmates. We are women of God. The Church must do better because God is watching.”
The embattled Sister further accused senior nuns of enabling the alleged abuses by willingly engaging in the acts and allegedly facilitating younger sisters for priests. She also recalled a disturbing encounter in which a priest attempted to lure her to a guest house after purchasing a pack of condoms, but she managed to escape.
Her allegations reportedly sparked outrage but, according to her, the Church responded by dismissing her rather than investigating the claims. In a Facebook post on Thursday titled “Message to the Public,” Sister Kinse announced that she had been formally dismissed by the Congregation on July 21, 2025, and was handed a token of ₦100,000.
She stated that upon her return to the convent, her belongings had already been packed and her religious habit collected. Despite her ordeal, she reaffirmed her faith, saying: “I am a Catholic, and I love my Church! Above all, I place my trust in God, whose throne can never be shaken and who never abandons His own.”
