Edo Residents Reacts To Obaseki’s Revocation Of Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s Farmland Appeal For Restraint

Benin City: Edo State residents have called on the Edo State Government to please apply brakes to its decision to revoke the farmland belonging to an APC chieftain in the State and the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the last governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

According to respondents, Obaseki should let go of his decision and concentrate on fulfilling his promises made to the electorates.

This morning the media was awash with a signed document by His Excellency himself, Godwin Obaseki serving a notice of revocation of the said farmland belonging to Pastor Ize-Iyamu.

A review of reactions from Edo State residents apparently shows the citizens are not too impressed with the actions of the state government clearly stating it as a perceived vendetta. The majority are of the view that if at all the APC Gubernatorial candidate committed heinous crimes just because he decided to contest against the incumbent then he should be forgiven in the spirit of sportsmanship.

They opined that Obaseki himself was an opponent to the same Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and other Gubernatorial candidates in the 2016 elections that saw Obaseki emerging as Governor after the tenure of Adams Oshiomhole.

According to them revoking the said farmland which is a source of employment to Edo youths and citizens would be counterproductive for the State and may serve no meaningful purpose .

“I think this is unnecessary and a distraction, His Excellency aside from being magnanimous in victory should understand that his actions would put families into the unemployment market, please he should reconsider his stance and allow sleeping dogs to lie” Inusa

“Of what benefit is the revocation of this farmland that has been in existence all these years to the State Government and the good people of Edo State? Please Obaseki should forgive Ize-Iyamu if his sins are contesting against him, he should please move on and let love lead. Edo State has a lot on its hands that the Governor should avoid unnecessary political distractions” Charles

“With the maturity in which the opposition congratulated Obaseki and wished him well I felt he should have at least let go of mundane issues all in the guise of caging your political opponent, the Governor has barely three years left and he should be seen as fostering unity and leaving a legacy in the state, going after the possesions of oppositional leaders is really not ideal, he should please rethink this revocation notice and give peace a chance’ Idemudia.

Many respondents have appealed to Obaseki to move on and forget petty political battles that would further divide the oneness and unity of its citizens especially coming at a time that Nigeria needs to be strong together to face the multiple challenges confronting the Country.
