Enough of the Provocation – Ibas Drags Pastor Tunde Bakare Over Incendiary Statements”

Reports indicate that Pastor Bakare recently raised concerns about President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, alleging that the country was descending into tyranny and power abuse. He also criticized the state of emergency declared in Rivers State, calling it a “theatre of the absurd,” and condemned both the President and the National Assembly for endorsing the decision, calling the latter the “most spineless” in Nigeria’s history for allowing such unchecked actions.

In response, Hector Igbikiowubo, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Rivers State Sole Administrator, stated that the Ibas-led administration would not be swayed by Bakare’s comments. He emphasized that such remarks did not contribute to the ongoing peace-building efforts in the state.

Igbikiowubo pointed out that Pastor Bakare should be using the Easter season to preach unity and peace, instead of using the occasion to stir up division. He stressed that the administration under Vice Admiral Ibas was focused on fulfilling its mandate and would not be distracted by baseless criticisms from individuals seeking attention.

Igbikiowubo further remarked, “We don’t know this pastor, and we will not dignify his words with a response. He was once a vice presidential candidate, but obviously, he didn’t succeed in that pursuit. Nigeria is a vast country with many preachers, and if someone, especially during such a season, chooses to sow division instead of preaching healing, we must ignore them. What has he done to contribute to peace in Rivers State?”
