Big Brother Naija star Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has called for the prosecution of a female TikTok user identified as Mirabel, after the latter admitted that her previous rape allegation was false.

Mirabel had earlier claimed on TikTok that she was attacked and raped by an intruder who forcibly entered her apartment in the Ogijo area of Ogun State. Her allegation prompted widespread outrage online, with many users demanding swift action against sexual violence.

However, in an audio recording of a conversation shared by social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM), Mirabel admitted that her earlier claim was untrue, citing struggles with personal and mental health issues. She reportedly said, “Yes, sir, please help me, I am very sorry, I have been taking drugs, and I was not thinking clearly when I posted the videos.”

Following this revelation, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed plans to arrest and prosecute Mirabel. A police source informed that a Divisional Police Officer and senior officers visited the hospital where she is receiving treatment and that she will be taken into custody upon discharge to face charges in court. The source added that the action is intended as a deterrent to others.

In a post on , Tacha urged law enforcement and agencies handling sexual assault cases to ensure Mirabel is punished, stressing that she should receive the same penalty as a rapist. Tacha wrote, “Now that it’s been established that Mirabel lied about the rape allegation, I expect the police and the agencies in charge of handling rape and assault cases to make sure they penalize Mirabel and that she receives the same punishment a rapist would get… We should NEVER allow false claims to empower those who abuse women. She must be penalized.”
