Enugu Governor Approves New Appointments Across State Executive Council And Key Agencies

According to Ireporter Online, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved a series of appointments within the state executive council and several strategic agencies. The announcement was made in a statement on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.

The statement revealed that the governor has named new commissioners, board chairpersons, managing directors, and executive secretaries, with all appointments taking immediate effect except for the commissioners-designate.

“The governor expects the appointees to leverage their expertise and dedication to advance the administration’s vision for effective governance and sustainable development in Enugu State,” the statement added.

Barrister Osinachi Nnajieze and Dr. C.O.C. Egumgbe were nominated as commissioners-designate, with their names submitted to the Enugu State House of Assembly for confirmation.

Among other senior appointments, Kenechukwu Nnamani was named Managing Director of the Enugu State Investment Development Authority, while James Chukwuemeka Mbah was appointed Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board. Dr. Eric Oluedo was assigned as Executive Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pensions Board, Mrs. Sylvia Onwubuemeli as Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Library Board, and Monday Diamond Ani as State Coordinator of the Community and Social Development Agency.

Governor Mbah also reconstituted the Governing Board of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board. New members include Hon. Afam Nnaji, Dr. Mrs. Uche Eze, Dr. Mrs. Oge Uka, and representatives from the state’s three senatorial districts—Mrs. Rita Chimaobi Ihemeje (Enugu West), Mrs. Justina Ugwu (Enugu North), and Dr. Nnenna Ogbonna (Enugu East). Additional members include Theophilus Nweke representing the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mrs. Juliet Ifesinachi Ani representing state women groups, and Dr. Luke Ohabuenyi Ezema as Secretary.

Further appointments were approved for other key boards and agencies. Dr. Mrs. Nneka Onyebuchi and Patrick Onwe joined the Post Primary Schools Management Board, Barrister Nwabueze Ugwu was named Chairman of the Governing Council of the Enugu State College of Education Technical, and Chief Nwabueze Nnamani was appointed Board Chairman of the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation. Richard Onaga and Hon. Bob Itanyi were assigned as Managing Directors of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency and the Enugu State Transport Company, respectively.

Other appointments include Barrister Richard Agu as Board Chairman of Enugu Air, Rt. Hon. USA Igwesi as Board Chairman of the New Enugu Smart City Development Authority, Hon. Chika Igwesi as Chairman of the Enugu State Road Maintenance and Development Agency, and Hon. Chidera Odo as Chairman of the Enugu State Roads Fund, with Hon. Barrister Manfred Nzekwe as Executive Secretary of the fund. Dr. John Egbo and Hon. Prince Emeka Mamah were named Managing Directors of the Enugu East Zone and Enugu North Zone Transport Terminals, while Rev. Chimaobi Aninwene joined the Enugu State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
