According to political observers, former Minister of Finance Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu has called on the Igbo community to take advantage of the ongoing membership registration and join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in large numbers. Speaking from his hometown in Ohafia, Abia State, Dr. Kalu said the party represents the platform where Ndi Igbo should align themselves politically.

Ndi Igbo should be there,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of Igbo representation at all levels of the party. He made the remarks while hosting House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu and other APC leaders over the weekend.

Reflecting on the formation of the APC, Dr. Kalu noted, “When they were gathering to set up the APC years ago, I told some of our people that Ndi Igbo should be there. They deserve to be there. They have earned their right to be at the high table.”

He commended the Deputy Speaker for his legislative achievements and dedication to national service, describing him as a source of pride for the Igbo community. Despite his age, the former minister, who once aspired to the presidency in 2003, pledged to continue contributing his experience and resources to the development of Abia State and Nigeria at large.

Dr. Kalu remarked, “I’m proud of the progress we have made in Abia, and I remain willing to serve through advice, presence, and action whenever called upon. Age will not be a constraint.”

The Deputy Speaker, in turn, lauded Dr. Kalu’s long-standing contributions to national development, describing him as a role model whose integrity, dedication, and achievements continue to inspire younger generations. He presented a brochure highlighting his legislative accomplishments to the elder statesman and prayed for his continued good health and longevity.
