The former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), citing recent political developments as the reason for his departure.

According to Ireporter Online, Gwarzo, who had previously stepped down from Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration, submitted his resignation in a letter dated March 29, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the party in Gwarzo Ward, Gwarzo Local Government Area. The resignation is effective immediately.

In the letter, Gwarzo explained that the decision followed careful deliberation and extensive consultations with political associates, supporters, and well-wishers across the state. He emphasized that evolving political circumstances necessitated a reassessment of his party membership to better serve the interests of the people and the future of both Kano State and Nigeria.

While expressing gratitude to the party leadership and members for their support during his tenure, Gwarzo stated that his resignation was driven by the need to pursue a political direction that aligns with his personal vision for good governance, democratic values, and sustainable development.
