Reports indicate that Akpoti-Uduaghan opposed the relocation of her seat following a reshuffle caused by opposition lawmakers defecting to the majority side, leading to a confrontation with the Senate President.

On February 25, 2025, she lodged the lawsuit at the Federal Capital Territory High Court, naming Akpabio, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Senate President’s Senior Legislative Aide, Mfon Patrick, as co-defendants.

The lawsuit, registered as case CV/737/25, alleges that defamatory remarks were made by Akpabio and later published on Facebook by his aide. The post in question, titled “Is the Local Content Committee of the Senate Natasha’s Birthright?”, allegedly contained statements implying that the senator’s role was limited to applying makeup and wearing transparent outfits in the Senate chambers.

Her lawyer, Victor Giwa, described the publication as defamatory and damaging to her public image, demanding ₦100 billion in general damages and ₦300 million in legal costs.

Additionally, Akpoti-Uduaghan is seeking a court order to restrain Akpabio and his associates from making further defamatory statements against her.
